Power-One and Silicon Laboratories Resolve Litigation

Power-One and Silicon Laboratories have resolved the patent infringement lawsuit filed by Power-One on December 14, 2005 against Silicon Laboratories. The patents and patent applications in the litigation concern aspects of digital power management and control. As part of the agreement, Silicon Laboratories will join the Z-One Digital Power Alliance, and the parties will commence immediate joint development actions for Z-One compliant products, initially focusing on the Silicon Laboratories Si825X digital power controller and the Power-One ZM730X family of digital power manager products.

Power-One will offer licenses to Silicon Laboratories customers using the Z-One compliant interface. Power-One is not providing any intellectual property licenses to Silicon Laboratories as part of this agreement.

William T. Yeates, Chief Executive Officer of Power-One, commented, "We are delighted that we have reached this mutually beneficial solution to our patent infringement suit against Silicon Laboratories and we welcome them to the Z-Alliance. We look forward to working cooperatively with Silicon Laboratories on new digital power products. Their Si825x product family has very exciting potential as a platform for our Z-One technology."

David Breseman, Vice President Wireline Products, Silicon Laboratories, added, "This is a win-win result. We are excited about the mutual opportunities that are available to Silicon Laboratories and Power-One through our cooperative efforts."
