Green Grid Adds Two Members

Hard-drive supplier Western Digital (WD) and Vette Corp, a provider of thermal management solutions, have joined The Green Grid, a nonprofit consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. Vette joins as a Contributor Member.

"As demand for storage continues to expand, the need for more efficient power solutions becomes paramount to our customers," says Tom McDorman, WD's vice president and general manager of enterprise storage. "WD's innovative GreenPower technology makes it possible for large scale data centers to increase storage capacity while minimizing the increase in power consumption, and in many cases actually reduce power consumption."

“Vette Corp’s expertise will be a valuable resource for The Green Grid’s Technical Committee, as thermal management is an important factor to consider when analyzing overall data center efficiency,” said Winston Bumpus, a director of The Green Grid. “We are pleased to have Vette Corp participate as a Contributor Member.”

The Green Grid seeks to provide industry-wide recommendations on best practices, metrics and technologies that will improve overall data center energy efficiencies.
