Mobile Satellite Ventures or MSV (www.msvlp.com) appointed Dr. Santanu Dutta as VP of Systems Engineering. Dutta, who joins MSV from Ericsson Mobile Platforms, will be responsible for the architecture for MSV's next-generation system.

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (www.cypress.com) and NMB Tech-nologies Corp. (www.nmbtc.com) signed an agreement to develop wireless keyboard and mouse solutions based on Cypress's WirelessUSB technology.

Proxim Corp. (www.proxim.com) announced that Frank Plastina has been appointed President and CEO. He also will join the company's Board of Directors. Plastina is a 15-year veteran of Nortel Networks Corp.

Schema (www.schema.com) has appointed two additional members to its senior management team: Daphna Bahat as Associate VP of Marketing and Tom Hammond as VP of Sales for the Americas. These two appointments follow the recent announcement of Andrew Silberstein's promotion to COO. Silberstein is continuing in his role as President of the company.

Bud Industries, Inc. (www.budind.com) began offering the ability to select racks and all relevant accessories with a linked two-click online-selection feature. Visitors to the company's Web site can select an entire rack system with only two clicks of the mouse.

PCTEL, Inc. (www.pctel.com) has entered into an agreement to sell its HSP modem product line to Conexant (www.conexant.com) in exchange for IP, cash, and royalty payments. PCTEL will retain all rights to its modem portfolio, existing licensing business, and new Wi-Fi and wireless-network measurement businesses. It also will acquire ownership of several Conexant patent families. Additionally, Conexant will license PCTEL's Segue Wi-Fi software.

Broadband Innovations (www.broadbandinnovations.com) raised $8 million in financing. The company has raised more than $35 million since its inception in 1990.

Dilithium Networks (www.dilithiumnetworks.com) announced that its co-founder and CTO, Dr. Marwan Jabri, was appointed to the board of directors of the International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium (IMTC). Dr. Jabri is an authority on multimedia communications systems, including voice and video coding and transcoding and multimedia QoS over narrow and broadband networks.

Anjan (AJ) Sen, founder and former executive of eSilicon Corp., is formally launching Astro Semiconductor (www.astrosemi.com). Sen founded this analog and mixed-signal intellectual-property (IP) company in January of 2002.

By purchasing Acme Electronics LLC, Tracewell Systems (www.tracewellsystems.com) doubled its size. This acquisition should allow Tracewell to provide tier-one capability for production, simulation, and test along with high-end design experience.

Brian Hodges, formerly of Intersil Corp., joined Anadigm (www.anadigm.com) as VP of Worldwide Marketing.
