Megawatt-level battery

Viridity Energy, Philadelphia, has selected Saft North America to supply megawatt-level energy storage for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. Saft will design, manufacture, and commission the battery, which will also be one of the first dual-purpose trackside Energy Storage Systems (ESS) in the U. S. Saft will provide one Intensium Max20 Li-ion megawatt energy storage system to capture train braking energy and then discharge it back to the third rail (power rail) to power trains leaving the station.


SensorDynamics, Lebring, Austria, a developer and supplier of fail-safe micro and wireless semiconductor products for the automotive, industrial, and high-end consumer market, has been acquired by Maxim Integrated Products, Sunnyvale, Calif., a leader in analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products.
