PowerTrench® MOSFETs Enable Power Supplies to Meet 80 PLUS Silver Specification

Fairchild Semiconductor brings designers a highly efficient synchronous rectification MOSFET solution that enables power supplies to meet the 80 PLUS Silver specification. The FDP025N06, FDB024N06, FDP032N08, FDB031N08, FDP047N10, and FDB047N10 60V to 100V MOSFETs are designed using Fairchild's advanced PowerTrench® process that minimizes on-state resistance, while maintaining superior switching performance and ruggedness. Compared to traditional diode solutions that are limited by higher voltage drops during high current conduction modes, these Power Trench MOSFETs with their ultra-low RDS(ON) (1.9mΩ typical, FDP025N06) offer a one-percent improvement in efficiency and meet the 80 PLUS Silver specification for high power applications such as desktop PCs, servers and telecom power. To qualify for this stringent ENERGY STAR® label, computing applications must have power supplies that are 85 percent at 20 percent rated output load.

These MOSFETs are part of a comprehensive portfolio of PowerTrench MOSFETs that are instrumental in achieving energy efficiency by meeting the electrical and thermal performance requirements for today's electronics. Fairchild's advanced-performance PowerTrench MOSFET process technology yields exceptionally low values for Miller Charge (QGD), RDS(ON), and total gate charge (QG) – enhancements that result in superior switching performance and thermal efficiencies.

These products utilize lead-free (Pb-free) terminals and have been characterized for moisture sensitivity in accordance with the Pb-free reflow requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020. All of Fairchild's products are designed to meet the requirements of the European Union's Directive on the restriction of the use of certain substances (RoHS).
