From Toshiba America Electronic Components, the TB7004FL multi-chip module (MCM) contains the gate drivers and MOSFETs required to build a 35-A, 30-V synchronous buck converter. Compatible with Intel’s Driver-MOSFET 1.0 (DrMOS 1.0) specifications, the TB7004FL MCM can save board space when compared with discrete designs. The MCM can also improve efficiency over discrete approaches by eliminating the stray inductance and capacitance between the driver and the power MOSFETs.
The module features an input voltage range up to 19 V (30 V max), an operating frequency up to 1 MHz, and a QFN56 package that measures 8.0 mm x 8.0 mm x 0.85 mm. Additional features include a thermal shut-down function, under voltage lockout for the supply voltage to the internal driver IC, and tri-state logic for the PWM terminal.
Internal dead-time control enables dead time optimization. At a switching frequency of 1 MHz and output current of 30 A, the TB7004FL achieves approximately 83% efficiency. Samples of the TB7004FL are priced at $3 each.
