AVX has expanded its high-voltage multilayer capacitor series to include a 630-V range. Providing a high-capacitance value, low ESR at high frequencies and low leakage values in a small package, the 630-V range capacitor is designed as a drop-in replacement for a wide range of high-voltage, high-frequency applications.
The 630-V range is available in RoHS-compliant, tin-lead terminations and FLEXITERM versions. FLEXITERM enhances the mechanical flexure and temperature cycling performance of a standard ceramic capacitor, providing a solution for applications where board flexure and temperature cycle damage are a concern.

Atmel's ATA6824, ATA6827 and ATA6832 are driver ICs for high-temperature applications. The devices are designed using high-voltage SMARTIS technology that enables chip temperatures to 200°C. Ambient temperatures of up to 150°C can be achieved. To design a complete motor-control system solution, designers can combine the driver ICs with Atmel's ATmega 8-bit AVR Flash microcontrollers qualified for high-temperature automotive applications.
The ATA6827 is a fully protected triple half-bridge driver with integrated power stages to control up to three different loads by a microcontroller. The ATA6832 provides an additional PWM functionality up to 25 kHz, enabling a dc motor control to be generated without any audible noise. The ATA6824 is suited for higher output currents.

International Rectifier's IR1166 SmartRectifier IC is suited for ac-dc power converters. Enabling smaller and cooler supplies, the eight-pin IR1166 IC simplifies the design of midpower secondary synchronous rectification circuits of resonant half-bridge converters and flyback converters designed for 50 W to 150 W in discontinuous conduction mode, critical conduction mode and continuous conduction mode.

Multilayer Chip Inductors
FDK's AML0603E series of multilayer chip inductors are suited for high-frequency circuits and modules of mobile phones that require high Q factors. Compared to the conventional AML0603Q series, the AML0603E increases Q factors while reducing high-frequency loss by 20% to 30% in high-frequency bands, especially greater than 500 MHz. The 0603E series consists of 20 products covering inductance values from 2 nH to 12 nH.
These 0.6-mm × 0.3-mm × 0.3-mm chip inductors are developed by using simulation technology with computer-aided engineering, fine ceramic material technology and multilayer process technology.

Texas Instruments' symmetrical dual-core microcontroller units (MCUs) support certification according to the IEC 61508 SIL3 standard, the highest level of safety that is designated for automotive applications. Codeveloped with Robert Bosch, the MCU will be implemented in next-generation braking, steering and chassis-control applications.
The MCU uses two identical Cortex R4 cores from ARM Ltd. combined with an initial 2 MB of on-chip Flash memory. The dual cores are tightly coupled by a patent-pending architecture for maximum reliability, while memory is protected by error-correcting code bit checking.
