NEC Electronics America's NP Series of low-voltage power MOSFETs features an on-resistance of 2 mΩ. Featuring an innovative fabrication process and TO-263 packaging, the NP160N040TUG and NP160N04TDG reduce leakage current and efficiently manage heat dissipation. The devices double the number of bonding wires from two to four. The NP160N04TUG operates at a VGS of 10 V, and a VDS of 40 V, while the NP160N04TDG operates at a VGS of 5 V and 10 V and a VDS of 40 V. Pricing starts at $1.85 each in quantities of 1000.

Inverter Power Modules
Eight solar inverter modules from Microsemi feature full-bridge configurations combining low-saturation IGBT top switches with fast nonpunch-through IGBT bottom switches for unipolar switching. The top IGBTs operate at line frequency, while the bottom IGBTs switch at frequencies from 15 kHz to 50 kHz. Housed in an SP3 package, this line of power modules includes five 600-V and three 1200-V models. Devices are available in one 600-V module that allow higher switching frequencies with minimum conduction losses.

The FDS881XNZ series of high-efficiency n-channel MOSFETs from Fairchild Semiconductor provides up to 8 kV of electrostatic discharge (human body model) voltage protection. Using the power-trench process, these low on-resistance MOSFETs reduce conduction losses and extend valuable battery life. They also provide rugged and robust avalanche and high peak current capability to ensure system safety by surviving unexpected voltage spikes that may afflict battery packs.

Full-Bridge Gate Driver for HID Lighting
The MX6895 from Micronix, a subsidiary of IXYS, is a high-voltage IC, full-bridge gate driver designed specifically for high-intensity-discharge Xenon lamps. The driver can operate from an output supply voltage of -80 V to -550 V, while providing 3.3-V to 12-V logic-compatible inputs. Requiring no external boost-related components, the driver features soft turn-on level translators that minimize electromagnetic interference effects to directly and reliably drive a MOSFET bridge network.

Low-Noise LDO Regulator
With an input range of 1.8 V to 20 V, Linear Technology's 1.1-A LT1965 features a low dropout voltage of 300 mV at full load and adjustable output from 1.2 V to 19.5 V. Ultralow-output noise of only 40 µVRMS reduces noise in instrumentation, RF, DSP and logic supply systems, and is beneficial for post-regulating switching power supplies. Output tolerance is tightly regulated to within ±3% over line, load and temperature.

Keratherm 86/82 from MH&W International is a thermally conductive, electrically isolating silicone film with a reinforcing fiberglass layer for tear and cut-through resistance. Thermal impedance is 0.05 W/mK, and thermal conductivity is 6.5 W/mK. With its fiberglass layer, Keratherm 86/82 has a tensile strength of 20 N/mm2. The continuous-use temperature range is -40°C to +200°C. Keratherm 86/82 pads are available in a wide range of standard or custom configurations.

Buck LED Driver
Catalyst Semiconductor's CAT4201 buck converter is optimized for driving high-brightness, 350-mA LEDs at up 94% efficiency. The device architecture allows an external RSET control resistor to preset a regulated LED current up to 350 mA from supplies as high as 24 V.
Additionally, built-in load-dump protection allows transients of 40 V, making the device suitable for automotive applications.
