AC-Switch Gate Driver
The STCC08 from STMicroelectronics is the first solid-state ac-switch driver to integrate switch-supervision, allowing designers to save board space and reduce workload with a straightforward solution for mains-powered devices designed to meet IEC-60335-1 and IEC-60730-1 safety standards.
In mains-powered appliances and electrical controls, using the STCC08 controller will ease the appropriate failure-mode effect analysis (FMEA) process, as the device's own FMEA was integrated into its design and includes descriptions of 52 cases of failure. Offered in a surface-mount ECPOACK SO-8 package, the STCC08 is priced at $0.27 each in quantities of 50,000.
The MAX9938 from Maxim Integrated Products is a high-side current-sense amplifier. Packaged in a 1-mm × 0.6-mm 4-bump UCSP, this device is nine times smaller than SOT-23 devices (the MAX9938 is also available in a 5-pin SOT-23). Additionally, it integrates precision resistors to minimize total solution size, eliminating the need for external gain-setting resistors.
Designed to operate from a 1.6-V to 28-V input-voltage range, the MAX9938 is ideal for portable battery-operated devices. The MAX9938 is offered in three voltage-gain versions: 25 V/V, 50 V/V and 100 V/V. Prices start at $0.64 each in quantities of 1000.

From International Rectifier, the AUIRS212xS is a family of rugged 600-V, single-channel high-side driver ICs for low-, mid- and high-voltage automotive applications including general-purpose automotive drives, high-voltage actuators and fuel-efficient direct injection systems.
Qualified to AEC-Q100 standards, the AUIRS2123S and AUIRS2124S high-speed power MOSFET and IGBT drivers offer a gate-drive supply range from 10 V to 20 V. The output drivers feature a high-pulse current buffer stage designed for minimum driver cross-conduction, while the floating channel can be used to drive n-channel power MOSFETs or IGBTs in the high-side configuration operating up to 600 V. Both devices feature negative voltage spike immunity to protect the system against catastrophic events during high-current switching and short-circuit conditions. Stepdown DC-DC Converter
Linear Technology's LT3481 is a 34-V (36-VMAX) BurstMode stepdown switching regulator that maintains quiescent current under 50 mA .The H-grade version operates up to a junction temperature of 150°C (parts are tested and guaranteed to this temperature), compared to the E-grade and I-grade versions' 125°C maximum junction temperature. All electrical specifications are identical for the E, I and H. They are ideal for automotive, industrial and harsh environment applications that are subject to high ambient temperatures. The LT3481HDD is housed in a 10-lead 3-mm × 3-mm DFN, whereas the LT3481HMSE is packaged in a thermally enhanced MSOP-10. Pricing starts at $4.15 each in 1000-piece quantities.
Littelfuse's 0501 Series surface-mount 1206-size fuse is specifically designed to provide fast-acting protection for high-current voltage-regulator modules and dc-dc converters. With an ultrahigh interrupt rating of 150 A at 24 Vdc, the 0501 Series fuse provides circuit protection against short-circuit current surges. Unlike comparable fuses, the 0501 Series has a 20% higher temperature rating. The fuse operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -55°C up to 150°C without nuisance tripping. The 0501 Series is available in current ratings of 15 A and 20 A, both with a maximum fault current rating (interrupt rating) of 150 A,which allows this series of fuses to be used in a wide array of applications. Murata Electronics North America has expanded its EMIFIL family with the BLM02 series ferrite beads that measure 0.4 mm × 0.2 mm × 0.2 mm. The 01005-sized ferrite beads are ideal for noise-suppression use in EMI filter applications and dc power lines. In addition to the benefit of their small size, which conserves valuable board space, the ferrite beads do not compromise performance.
The BLM02 provides a wide attenuation frequency range, approximately 30 MHz to several hundred megahertz, and an impedance range of 10 V to 120 V with rated currents between 200 mA and 500 mA. The 01005-sized beads also offer dc resistance below 0.8 V and operate between 55°C to 125°C. The BLM02 series beads are available for the sample price of $0.06 each.

Hall Sensor ICs
Available from austriamicrosystems, AS5304 and AS5306 are high-performance linear Hall sensor ICs. Both ICs feature austriamicrosystems' new line of magnetic encoders for linear and off-axis motion-sensing applications. The devices provide an easy-to-use start-and-play solution for motion-control applications, because they require no configuration or calibration by the host controller after power up or during operation. Similar to optical sensors, the AS5304 and AS5306 provide incremental A and B quadrature output signals with 160 steps per magnet pole pair, and an index pulse that is applied once every pole pair. The index pulse together with the quadrature output signals allow designers to develop applications that track the absolute position once referenced from a known starting position after power up. The AS5304 and AS5306 can achieve resolutions of 25 mm and 15 mm, respectively. Available in a 20-lead 5-mm × 5-mm TSSOP and specified to operate at 5 V over a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, the ICs are priced at $5.80 each in 1000-unit quantities.
Altech's UL489 dc miniature molded-case circuit breakers offer the highest rating in the industry for their type and have been engineered to deliver reliable performance in a wide range of applications.
