1500 W Front End AC-DC Power Supply

Bel Fuse Inc. announces that its front end AC-DC power supply portfolio now includes the PFE1500-12-054xA power supply suitable for a wide range of telecom and networking applications. This 1500 Watt supply is a highly efficient front-end that has a main output of 12 VDC for powering intermediate bus architectures (IBA).

The PFE1500-12-054xA delivers a power density of 35 W/inch3 and achieves Platinum efficiency (94% efficient at 50% load) in a compact package measuring 54.5 x 40.0 x 321.5 mm. It has the same form factor as existing 1100W and 1300W PFE models.

A PFC stage guarantees the best efficiency and unity power factor over a wide operating range 90 - 264 VAC. The AC-DC stage uses soft switching resonant techniques to reduce component stresses, providing increased system reliability and very high efficiency, in conjunction with synchronous rectification.

An active OR-ing device on the output ensures no reverse load current and renders the supply ideally suited for operation in redundant power systems. Power supplies are hot swappable and can be connected in parallel with active digital current sharing.

The supply is fan cooled and ideally suited for integration with a matching airflow paths. Fan speed is adjusted automatically depending on the actual power demand and supply temperature and can be overridden through the I2C bus.

For monitoring and control of the unit, the PFE1500-12-054xA features system communications via I2C/PMBus protocol. Multiple protections such as: over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature are standard.

RoHS compliant and CE marked, the power supply is safety agency certified per UL/CSA 60950-1 and meets the requirements of EN60950-1. It further meets the conducted and radiated EMI requirements of EN55022-A.
