Next-Generation Oscilloscope Offers Four or Eight Channels

The R&S MXO 5 oscilloscope is Rohde & Schwarz's first eight-channel scope, expanding on the advances of its R&S MXO 4 and next-generation MXO-EP processing ASIC technology. Available in four- or eight-channel versions, it shows more of a signal’s activity in both the time and the frequency domains than legacy oscilloscopes.

The R&S MXO 5 is the first eight-channel oscilloscope with 4.5 million acquisitions/s and 18 million waveforms/s across multiple channels, capturing intricate signal details and infrequent events with a high level of precision. Features like digital triggering on all eight channels enable the accurate isolation of small signal anomalies, while its capability of 45,000 FFTs per second enables advanced spectrum signal viewing, particularly for electromagnetic-interference (EMI) and harmonic testing.

Able to capture up to 99% of real-time signal activity with the fastest acquisition capture rate currently available, the R&S MXO 5 accelerates signal analysis with the ability to detect rare and random events missed by other devices. These and other features enable engineers to debug designs more efficiently across multiple applications, facilitating power- and signal-integrity measurements as well as logic and bus protocol debugging.

The oscilloscope offers standard simultaneous acquisition memory of 500 Mpoints across all eight channels. There's ample storage for extensive data capture, with a memory extension option that can double the recording length to 1 Gpoint for demanding applications.

The eight-channel digital trigger capability has a sensitivity of 0.0001 div. to help precisely isolate small physical-layer anomalies, even when large signals are present, complementing the oscilloscope's 18-bit vertical architecture. The R&S MXO 5 can also simultaneously display four different time-independent spectra, providing outstanding RF signal visibility. A 15.6-in. full-HD capacitive touchscreen with an intuitive user interface helps optimize the learning curve and offers an engaging visual experience, with a small footprint and first-in-class VESA mounting to suit almost any engineering workspace.

The R&S MXO 5 comes in four and eight-channel models with 100-MHz, 200-MHz, 350-MHz, 500-MHz, 1-GHz, and 2-GHz models. A variety of upgrade options are available, such as a 16-digital-channel with mixed-signal oscilloscope (MSO) option; an integrated, dual-channel, 100-MHz arbitrary generator; protocol decode and triggering options for a variety of industry-standard buses; and a frequency-response analyzer.
