Rugged and Mil/Aero Systems @ Embedded Tech Trends 2024

Check out the technology presentations from this year's rugged computing event.

This collection of videos from Embedded Tech Trends (ETT) targets high-performance computing (HPC) in rugged environments. They cover everything from system-on-modules (SOMs) to quantum computing.

New Wave Design & Verification's Jake Braegelmann delves into embedded HPC on the edge (see the video above). He sheds light on "the advancements in embedded architectures at the system, board, and chip level along with the increasing role of AI and machine-learning integration at the edge."

The Latest Trends in Open Standards SoM Interfaces

Matthew Burns, Global Director, Technical Marketing at Samtec, checks out open standard SOMs like SGet's SMARC and PICMG's COM Express. SOMs can support a variety of processors, including x86, Arm, RISC-V, and Power as well as GPUs and FPGAs.

Simon Collins, Director of Product Management at Abaco Systems, takes a look at Open Architecture Systems and how they address SWaP-C constrained environments.

Not all processor cores and threads are created equal. Aaron Frank, Senior Product Manager at Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions, shows how hybrid processing systems can address compute challenges in rugged systems. He provides insights into performance and system implications of "today’s latest multicore and hybrid-core processors, which software developers and systems designers need to understand so they can exert tight control over the processing systems used in embedded aerospace and defense systems."

Ken Grob, Director of Embedded Computing Architectures at Elma Electronic, talks about how SOSA is addressing design challenges on the edge and how quantum computing is helping us solve the unsolvable.
