Convergence pressures constantly drive the electronics industry, resulting in more highly integrated and functional solutions. We talk to Ohad Yaniv, CEO of Variscite, about the company's embedded system-on-modules (SOMs). Variscite recently released the VAR-SOM-MX8M-NANO Evaluation Kit, based on the NXP i.MX 8M Nano CPU. The VAR-SOM-MX8M-NANO System on Module, featuring a 1.5-GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 plus 650-MHz Cortex-M7 real-time processor, is suited for products that require high power efficiency and high-performance graphics.

The VAR-SOM-MX8M-NANO is part of the VAR-SOM Pin2Pin product family, supporting a maximum scalability range from i.MX6UL/6ULL up to the i.MX 8QuadMax. The SOM provides extensive connectivity options, such as certified single-band 802.11 b/g/n or dual-band 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n, BT5.2/BLE, GbE, and USB 2.0.
