National Semiconductor’s LM3102 and LM3103 are high-efficiency synchronous buck regulators that feature an input-voltage range from 4.5 V to 42 V. Optimized for powering digital ICs in industrial and telecom applications, the LM3102 is rated for 2.5 A; the LM3103 for 750 mA. Both devices support output voltages down to 0.8 V, and the switching frequency is programmable to 1 MHz.
The devices deliver up to 97% efficiency, and use a constant-on-time (COT) control scheme, which requires no loop compensation. They also include an integrated flywheel current-injection control (FCIC), which allows for the use of ceramic capacitors rather than tantalum capacitors. The LM3102 is offered in a 20-pin TSSOP package with exposed pad at $2.65 each, and the LM3103 is offered in a 16-pin TSSOP package with exposed pad at $2.00 each. Both prices are for 1000 units.
