42V, Dual 4A, Synchronous Step-Down Silent Switcher
Linear Technology Corporation, announces the LT8650S, a dual 4A, 42V input synchronous step-down switching regulator. Its unique Silent Switcher2 architecture uses four internal input capacitors as well as two internal BST and a single INTVCC capacitor to minimize the area of the hot loops. The LT8650S can easily pass the automotive CISPR 25, Class 5 peak EMI limits with a 2MHz switching frequency over its entire load range. Spread spectrum frequency modulation is also available to lower EMI levels further.
The LT8650S's synchronous rectification delivers efficiency as high as 94.6% with a switching frequency of 2MHz. Its 3.0V to 42V input voltage range is ideal for automotive and industrial applications. The internal high efficiency switches can deliver up to 4A of continuous output current simultaneously and up to 6A peak loads on either channel to output voltages as low as 0.8V. The LT8650S's Burst Mode operation ensures only 6.2µA of quiescent current (for both channels), well suited for applications such as automotive always-on systems, which require extended operating battery life.

Hot Swap Power Supplies With Optional LAN Interface Modules
TDK Corporation announced LAN (Local Area Network) modules for the popular HFE series of 1600W and 2500W rack mounted, hot swap power supplies. These optional modules allow remote monitoring, status check and programming through a number of standard protocols, supporting VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture). The LAN option is suitable for computer networking, telecommunications, test and measurement and industrial equipment.
The modules plug into any open slot on the standard HFE1600 or HFE2500 19" racks, measuring the same size as the HFE1600 or HFE2500 I2C / PMBus equipped power supplies. Removal or insertion of the modules can be made with the AC input applied (to the HFE rack housing, HFE1600-S1U or HFE2500-S1U) without causing any disruption to the power supply output voltage. The HFE1600-LAN and HFE2500-LAN can be used with any of the available HFE output voltages and can support up to two racks, or their individual power supplies.

650V Schottky Diodes Exhibit Fast Switching
Infineon Technologies AG introduces the CoolSiC Schottky diode 650 V G6. This latest development in the CoolSiC diode family is built upon the distinctive characteristics of the G5, providing reliability, quality, and increased efficiency. The CoolSiC G6 diodes are a perfect complement to the 600 V and 650 V CoolMOS 7 families. They are aiming at current and future applications in Server and PC power, Telecom equipment power, and PV inverters.
The CoolSiC Schottky diode 650 V G6 has a new layout, new cell structure, and a new proprietary Schottky metal system. The result is an industry benchmark V F (1.25 V), and a Q c x V F figure of merit (FOM) which is 17 percent lower than the previous generation. In addition, the new G6 diode makes use of the SiC strong characteristics of temperature independent switching behavior and no reverse recovery charge.
DC Axial Fans Deliver Improved Life and Performance
CUI's Thermal Management Group announced the introduction of its CFM-V line of dc axial fans that boasts superior performance and reliability compared to conventional sleeve bearing fans, thanks to its innovative omniCOOL system. This advanced bearing design bridges the cost-performance gap between traditional sleeve and ball bearing fan technologies. Incorporating a magnetic structure that enables rotor-balancing to minimize tilt, wobble, and friction, the omniCOOL system allows for fan operation at any angle.
The CFM-V series with frame sizes from 40 to 120 mm delivers airflows ranging from 5.4 to 10.8 CFM in the 40 mm series up to 138 CFM in the 120 mm series. Available with rated voltages of 5, 12, 24, and 48 Vdc, all axial fans come as standard with auto restart protection and feature options for tachometer signal and rotation detector depending on the model. Increased Range Of Current Compensated Chokes
Schaffner has extended its range of common mode current compensated chokes with the introduction of its new RT series. The new open frame chokes are chokes fit between the existing very successful RN and RB series.
The new RT chokes are available with horizontal and vertical mounting options and in 2-line and 3-line versions. Standard current ranges are from 6 to 20A with voltages up to 600VAC. The new product range enables developers to integrate great saturation behavior together with high common mode performance on to a PCB.
The wide range of 24 different combinations of layout, mounting position and current-inductance ratings makes the series a great fit for solar inverter and switch mode power supplies (SMPS). The saturation behavior and the ability to apply forced cooling, in order to increase maximum possible current, are very useful for motor drive (VSD) applications up to 32A.
USB-C Buck-Boost Voltage Regulator
Intersil announced the industry's first buck-boost voltage regulator. The ISL95338 bidirectional voltage regulator accepts input power from a wide range of DC power sources - AC/DC power adapters, USB power delivery (PD3.0) ports, travel adapters, power banks - and converts it to a regulated voltage up to 24V. The ISL95338 can also convert a wide range of DC power sources to a regulated 20V at its power adapter input. The ISL95338 supports the USB-C ecosystem with buck-mode, boost-mode, and buck-boost mode, and is flexible enough to use in any USB-C power management application.
The single-chip ISL95338 leverages Intersil's patented R3 modulation technology to deliver acoustic noise-free operation, superior light-load efficiency and ultra-fast transient response. Intersil's R3 extends battery life by combining the best features of fixed-frequency pulse width modulation (PWM) and hysteretic PWM to maximize power efficiency. The ISL95338 is also USB 3.1-compliant and provides serial communication through SMBus/I2C.
