New Supplier Enters DC-DC Converter Market

FDK America has entered the standard dc-dc converter market with its introduction of the Senpai Series of non-isolated point-of-load converters (POLs). These dc-dc converters are designed for the intermediate bus architecture and distributed power architecture applications.

The converters are offered in 5-A, 10-A, and 16-A output-current models in SMD and SIP packages. They operate from an input voltage range of 6.0 V to 14 V, and provide programmable and fixed output voltages in the range of 0.75 V to 5.5 V. All models feature remote On/Off and are compatible with standard trim equations. At 3.3-V output in an ambient of 85°C with 100-LFM airflow, the 5-A and 10-A models provide full rated current, and the 16-A model provides 14 A.

“We have seen a need in the telecom and datacom industries for high performance, cost effective dc-dc converters,” said Katsuya Fujii, president & CEO of FDK America, Inc. “FDK is a 56-year-old company that is known for its high quality electronic components and batteries. We are applying those same high standards, manufacturing excellence, and R-and-D to our new Senpai Series.”

In quantities of 1000 pieces, the 5-A, 10-A, and 16-A models are priced at $6.00, $10.00, and $12.00, respectively. Samples are available now.
