PXI Controller Out-Loops Predecessor

April 1, 2001

Capable of running control loops up to three times faster than its predecessor—namely, the PXI-8156B/333 RT controller—the Ethernet-enabled PXI-8170/850 RT real-time controller couples an 850 MHz Pentium III processor with the LabVIEW operating system. According to the company, this additional processing power will enable users to create more deterministic, real-time data acquisition applications.
The new controller includes a 6-GB hard-disk drive, floppy-disk drive, and a serial port. It comes with both a PXI-8211 Ethernet board and pre-installed embedded LabVIEW real-time engine and driver software to reduce setup time. Prices start at $5,195.
