Spellman Acquires Del High Voltage

Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp., Hauppauge, N.Y., has purchased the assets of Valhalla, N.Y.-based Del High Voltage Corp., formerly a division of Del Global Technologies Corp. (DGTC). This strategic acquisition, which occurred on Oct. 1, 2004, merges the assets of Del High Voltage, including its customers, product lines, technology and personnel, into the Spellman organization.

Fifty-year-old Del High Voltage has been a supplier of custom and standard high-voltage power supplies and transformers. Because of prior mergers, Del’s portfolio also incorporates the Bertan High Voltage and Dynarad Corp. lines of high-voltage power supplies and select Monoblock X-Ray Sources. Del High Voltage’s 35,000-sq ft manufacturing and engineering facility will continue to operate under Spellman management in Valhalla.

“We are pleased to welcome Del High Voltage into the Spellman family,” said Loren Skeist, president and owner of Spellman. “We made this decision to acquire Del High Voltage based on their strength within the Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) industry, their position within the general high-voltage community, their strategically important customer base, and their technology which complements our own.”

Spellman High Voltage Electronics is an independent manufacturer of high-voltage power supplies, dc-dc converters and power systems for medical and industrial applications, semiconductor manufacturing, scientific instrumentation, telecommunications, X-ray and automatic test equipment. In addition to its U.S. headquarters, Spellman has facilities in the United Kingdom., Japan, China and Mexico that provide design, manufacturing and service to global customers.
