Little P-channel MOSFETs Save Space in Active Clamp Circuits

A family of 150-V and 200-V p-channel power MOSFETs in SC-70 and SOT-23 packaging saves space in primary-side active-clamp circuits in dc-dc converters. Until now, the p-channel MOSFETs for active clamps were only available in larger packages such as the SO-8 and DPAK.

The p-channel MOSFETs now being introduced include two SC-70 packaged devices. One is the Si1411DH, a -150-V rated part with an
RDS(ON) of 2.6 Ω at 10 V; another is the Si1419DH, a -200-V rated part with an RDS(ON) of 5 Ω at 10 V. Also, there are two new p-channel MOSFETs in SOT-23 packages: Si2325DS is a -150-V rated part with an RDS(ON) of 1.2 Ω at 10 V; the Si2327DS is a -200-V rated part with an
RDS(ON) of 2.35 Ω at 10 V.

In addition to these devices, the company is introducing two PowerPAK SO-8 devices for the active clamp application. One is the -150-V rated Si7439DP, which has an RDS(ON) of 0.09 Ω. Another is the -200-V rated Si7431DP, which has an RDS(ON) of 0.174 Ω.

Available now, these devices are priced starting at $0.20 each in quantities of 100,000.
