Hospitals go with natural gas

A hospital in Randallstown, Md. is among the first in the nation and first hospital on the East Coast to move to an environmentally-friendly generator to power its emergency electrical needs. By injecting natural gas into a diesel fuel-powered generator, generator emissions at Northwest Hospital are cut by 60%. The hospital has cut its use of diesel fuel from 75 to 31 gallons/hr. This measure is expected to reduce the electrical budget significantly each year. Other sistor hospitals in its system are expected to follow suite.
