A new class of multiphase converters having at least two switching cells driven by out-of-phase PWM reference signals and corresponding respective PWM control signal signals. In some embodiments, one of the switching cells is driven as a function current-balancing feedback so as to balance the currents between the switching cells. Various embodiments of the multiphase converter include one or more unique transformers for averaging the output of the switching cells.

GALLIUM NITRIDE HIGH ELECTRON MOBILITY TRANSISTOR FOR HIGH POWER APPLICATIONS

A gallium nitride high electron mobility transistor, in which an inner field-plate is disposed between the gate and drain of the high electron mobility transistor, so that an electric field is distributed between gate and drain regions to reduce a peak value and to reduce gate leakage current while maintaining high frequency performance. It thus obtains a high breakdown voltage, reducing the capacitance between the gate and the drain attributable to a shielding effect, and improving linearity and high power and high frequency characteristics through variation in the input voltage of the inner field-plate.

DYNAMIC MULTIPHASE OPERATION

An output regulator includes a plurality of switch arrays. A controller enables selected ones of the plurality of switch arrays in response to a sense signal. The sense signal is based on an output of the output regulator. The controller generates drive signals to control the selected ones of the plurality of switch arrays. The controller adjusts first selected pulses in an output phase of the selected ones of the plurality of switch arrays based on a first pulse width. The controller adjusts second selected pulses in the output phase of the selected ones of the plurality of switch arrays based on a second pulse width greater or less than the first pulse width.

A Local Dynamic Power Controller (LDPC) generates and delivers to a load a full swing voltage supply signal and a reduced swing voltage supply signal. Both the full and reduce voltage supply signals are generated from a single power supply. The full swing voltage supply signal is supplied when the load is in full operational mode whereas the reduce voltage supply signal is provided when the load is in a sleep mode. As a consequence, power dissipated in the load is reduced.

MEDIUM FREQUENCY POWER GENERATOR

An MF power generator includes a DC current supply connected to an inverter. The inverter includes at least one switching element connected to a first-polarity current supply potential, and an output network. Each switching element is provided with a decoupling circuit for decoupling the switching element from a voltage of the output network. This enables the low-loss switching of the switching elements.
