Mopar finds Garmin auto navigation system

Mopar plans to offer a Navus GPS automotive navigation system from Garmin International (www.garmin.com) as a dealer-installed option on many 2005 model Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles, including the Chrysler 300C, Dodge Magnum, Charger, Dakota and Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Priced at $869, the system features pre-loaded maps; an eight-bit TFT color display, with touch-screen interface, that sits on the dashboard; automatic route calculation; turn-by-turn voice-prompted directions, and dead reckoning capabilities for use if GPS signals are temporarily lost.

The system connects directly to the vehicle’s bus interface, and installation is expected to take less than 30 minutes.
