Freescale makes Valeo list

Exhibiting at electronica 2004 in Munich, Freescale Semiconductor Inc. said it achieved VIP (Valeo Integrated Partner) status and a spot on the preferred components list at Valeo, which uses HCS12/S12X MCUs, SmartMOS and e-Switch components.

Freescale also touted its pair-up with Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe for embedded navigation, infotainment, and driver information services (DIS). The pair persuaded Hyundai Autonet to base its next-generation NAVI family of 3-D navigation systems on Freescale's 32-bit, 400 MHz MPC5200 processor, Fujitsu's "Coral P/PA" graphics display controller and Tilcon software's graphics software.

Chris Webber, vice president automotive and telematics practice at Strategy Analytics, says Freescale "continues to dominate the automotive MCU market, thanks to design wins such as the MPC5500 and deals with GM and Fujitsu."
